Albert’s lightning talk

How tech leads keep control when AI writes the code

Friday 23 October · 15:00 BST · Lightning Talks

Most review processes were built for human authors. In seven minutes, Albert sets out a simple model for tech leads: enforce your standards before code is written, measure what AI gets right and wrong, and use that evidence to decide where agents can do more.

TechLead Conf, Friday 23 October: Control, Evidence, Trust: Leading Teams When AI Writes the Code. Lightning Talks, 3:00 PM BST, The Brewery, London.

Sneak peek

Humans don’t leave the loop. They move up it.

Writing code got cheap, but reviewing it didn’t: GitHub now merges around 4 million pull requests a day. Albert walks through five levels of the loop, where an agent writes, something checks and it fixes, and shows how the tech lead’s job changes at each one, from reading every line to reading the record instead of the diff.

Sneak peek of Albert’s talk: writing code got cheap, reviewing it didn’t; 4 million pull requests merged on GitHub every day; when it breaks in production they ask who approved it; five levels of the loop; humans don’t leave the loop, they move up it.

The speaker

Albert Franquesa

Chief of Strategy and Board Member at Quality Clouds. Albert started as a developer at IBM and went on to lead delivery at GFT, so he has watched code reach production from both sides. Today he works on what happens when AI-written code lands in production at scale.

What we’ll show you

Inside the agent loop

Norma’s MCP server runs over OAuth in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, Replit, or anything else that speaks MCP. The agent checks its own work against your rules before you read the diff.

Across the whole repository

The GitHub App reviews pull requests and posts what it finds as a review comment, so code that never went near an agent gets the same treatment.

The record

Every check and every finding is stored, including which client made the request. That is what answers who checked this, when, and what they did about it.

We’re at The Brewery all day on Friday 23 October. Bring a repository and a rule you care about, and we’ll run the check in front of you.
